Description

CIMport for OpenVMS
is a software product designed to interface to Digital Equipment Corporation's BASEstar
CIM platform and the LADDERS PLC Support System. LADDERS can independently use this
relationship to invoke network operations. CIMport is then layered on top of LADDERS to
provide a simply user interface for operations common to a plant environment. A key feature of the CIMport package is the
ability to transparently utilize Digital's BASEstar network platform with no redundant
device configuration required.
The best example
of the CIMport PDS integration is the updating of a logic printout in three easy steps:
1 Select Device Operations
2 Select Print Device Logic
3 Select the Device Name

CIMport does all the rest,
connecting to BASEstar to do the upload, invoking LADDERS to do the Program Compare and
Logic Printout with Automated Compare (LACR) determining the most current library version
of the logic and documentation. The CIMport
Programmable Device Support (PDS) System is made up of four components:
